Project: Wak Hassan Place - Terrace Houses
Location: Wak Hassan Place
Year of completion: 2014
The client brief for this project had requested for a design that allows each unit be unique. The design capitalized on the contractor’s extensive experience with pre-cast concrete to create irregular façade modules to differentiate each terrace house. They also serve as the privacy and weather screening for the internal space from the eastern and western sun. Transparent glass wall is used along recesses from the front facade to contrast with the strong precast wall and to allow light and ventilation and to create interesting spatial experience internally. The overall result is a radical departure from the cookie cutter terrace houses found islandwide making it a strong iconic but yet extremely user friendly houses in the northern part of the Singapore.
